Here’s How WhatsApp Status Update Sharing Now Works on the Web Version
WhatsApp users now get a status update in the web version. Status is WhatsApp’s version of Stories for its users who can share updates through photos and videos. When they share status updates, their screenshot in the messaging app will get a green ring, and when you tap on it, you’ll see the shared update.
WhatsApp appears to be testing the web version of the feature with beta users, as reported by WABetainfo this week. Billions use WhatsApp on their desktops because it allows them to multitask, be it work or just busy things.
So, if you have WhatsApp web beta version 2.2353.59 running on your desktop, you can probably try out the new Status update feature on the platform. You can find Status in the top left corner of the WhatsApp web interface, right between the communities and channels tab.
As you can see in the clip below, WhatsApp status online works in several ways. You can either click the + icon in the Status tab or tap the same icon next to your profile picture in the messaging app.
WhatsApp users can receive status updates in the form of photos or videos and text. Many have suggested that the success of Stories encouraged Meta to bring the feature to its other apps, such as Facebook and WhatsApp. Status updates are used by many people, especially those who like the Instagram feature and wanted an alternative to other social media apps as well. However, the feature is still in beta, so it may take a while before the official release is available to everyone.
WhatsApp is also testing a new feature that will allow users to share music during a video call, essentially allowing you to pair music with a music track in the same way you would in person. This functionality is similar to Apple’s SharePlay feature that they can use during FaceTime calls.
